Hello fellow ARCS club members,   

      Abilene Radio Control Society’s August club meeting will be this Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 7:00 pm, in the conference room of the South Branch of Abilene Library, located in the Mall of Abilene, on Buffalo Gap Road.  

   SPECIAL NOTE:  This is the last club meeting before our two club events later this month.

     Mark your calendar for ARCS’s upcoming events:

            Chopper Madness 2026                      September 25, 26 & 27, 2026
            Turbines & Tumbleweeds 2026          Sept 30 – October 4, 2026

     We will be finalizing the club’s plans for Chopper Madness on the last weekend of September, followed up with finalizing plans for Turbines and Tumbleweeds scheduled for the first weekend in October.    

    Both club events are in need of additional club volunteers to help with each event’s set up,  to assist with running each event, and the take down and pack up, on each Sunday.  Contact Event Manager Luis on how you can contribute for Chopper Madness.  Contact Event Manager Ivan on how you can contribute for Turbines and Tumbleweeds.  

     See you at the meeting, and at Chopper Madness along with being at Turbines and Tumbleweeds.

Club Membership Application

Existing Club Members

If you are an existing club Member, please sign in before renewing your membership as there may be different membership rates/types for new vs. renewing members. If you forgot your username or password, click here.

     Be a member, in good standing, of the Academy of Model Aircraft (AMA).  Verification will be automatically verified when application for club membership submitted. 

     Additional items required for membership, besides dues, is a user name, password, member name, and email address.  [User name can be simple as first initial and last name (example: jsmith).  Password could be your AMA number.]  Most other items on application form are optional.  Would prefer the type(s) of models flown and your best guess at your piloting skills.

      NOTES: With the Academy of Model  Aeronautics (AMA) interpretation that an approved FRIA and the FAA Registration are two separate items, the AMA is not requiring FAA registration to fly at an approved FRIA flying field. 

 

      The FAA requires that every UAV pilot must take, and complete, the FAA TRUST test.  

 

      For flying at other than an FAA approved FRIA  flying site, it is recommend every UAV pilot register with FAA, in order to be in compliance with current FAA regulations. 

Club Membership Period

    Yearly dues are currently $30 per year.  Membership includes access to both the electricity at the field and access to the security cameras.  The current years dues are due starting January 1.  The dues can be paid as early as starting in December, prior to January 1 of next year.  The yearly dues go to offset the normal yearly business operations of our chartered club.  ARCS typically hosts three sanctioned events each year to raise additional funds for ARCS.  The hosting of these events keeps down cost and not having to raise yearly dues.  These additional funds go towards the expense of the security cameras at field, repairs at field, and other items needed (example: sound system for events) and/or items needing repaired. Paid membership includes access to the electricity and security cameras at the field.  

    Half year memberships are available for $15.00.  They are available beginning July 1 thru December 31 for renewing members and/or new members joining ARCS.
